Landspitali - National University Hospital of Iceland is increasing investment into Genomic Medicine. As a part of this effort we are recruiting a Clinical Laboratory Scientist with expertise in Cytogenetics, Clinical Molecular Genetics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics to join a team of 35 staff members in the Department of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (GMM). The department delivers comprehensive genetics services to the people of Iceland. The department includes a clinical genetics and genetic counseling unit. It operates specialized laboratories in biochemical genetics including prenatal and newborn screening, cytogenetics and molecular genetics. Genomics and cytogenomics are rapidly growing fields. Teaching, training and research are an integral part of departmental work. GMM has academic affiliation with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Faculty of Medicine, University of Iceland. Honorary academic appointments would be available for candidates with suitable background and research. Human genetics has a proud tradition in Iceland and our department actively collaborates with deCODE genetics which has sequenced more than a 1/5 of the Icelandic population.

» Doctor degree (PhD) preferred
» Expertise in clinical molecular genetics, cytogenetics or laboratory genetics and genomics

» Teaching and research experience is preferable

QUALIFICATIONS
» Doctor degree (PhD) preferred
» Expertise in clinical molecular genetics, cytogenetics or laboratory genetics and genomics
