
Radiology in Iceland
The National University Hospital is the largest health care provider in Iceland providing comprehensive service in all fields of medicine. We are situated in Reykjavík, a small city with vibrant cultural life and exceptional sports and outdoor opportunities. Reykjavik is also one of the safest cities in the world. The hospital has about 700 beds in addition to emergency units and ambulatory units. There are over 6,000 staff members at the hospital, whereof 130 work in radiology.
The Department of Radiology serves all specialties within the hospital, providing timely and accurate imaging service and consultation. As a university hospital we participate in educating medical students and other healthcare professionals, as well as engaging in and supporting scientific research. The department provides services in all fields of radiology and nuclear medicine producing about 130 thousand examinations a year.
You will be responsible for diagnosis and treatment decisions, in close collaboration with other physicians and staff. Broad experience in all fields of radiology is expected. You will participate in diverse educational activities and teaching of medical students as well teaching and mentoring residents.
We are looking for a positive and flexible person who is independent and organized in their work. Fluency in English is mandatory and a willingness to learn Icelandic is important. Good competence in evidence-based practices and knowledge of current research is needed.
Applicants must have medical qualifications and specialty medical training within radiology. For applicants within the European Union the EU Directive 2005/36/EC, annex V, regulates the mutual recognition of professional qualifications.
For applicants outside the European Union, medical qualifications and licenses to practice are individually assessed for compatibility by the Icelandic Directorate of Health.
Submissions should include confirmed diploma transcripts, a confirmation by a previous employer regarding working as a specialist in radiology, a full CV and a list of contacts for references and other relevant information.
